1)WHY I LOVE JESUS: SOME THINGS YOU NEVER FORGET
John was the disciple whom Jesus loved. He was just a young person at the time, but something connected between them that forever changed his life. He experienced the love of Jesus and forever wanted to talk about how much Jesus loves us. He never forgot the Jesus he learned to love. After 60 years, Jesus was still a part of his everyday life. Jesus is all he wanted to talk about. His Apocalypse and Gospel reveal his Jesus. Discover how you can know and love Him, too. He is eternal. He is personal.
2) WHY I LOVE JESUS: SEEING AGAIN AND AGAIN…FOR THE FIRST TIME
When the darkness was the absolute darkest–no life beyond the grave in sight–Jesus chose my eternal life over His own. I love Jesus because He died for me. Jesus’ passion fills me with awe, with things I can barely understand and am too prone to forget. I cannot understand Jesus until I understand His cross–something I want to see again and again, always with new vision.
3) WHY I LOVE JESUS: WHERE THINGS REALLY HAPPEN
Is Jesus at work in your world? In your life? Are you sure? How would you know? If so, what is Jesus doing–right now? The good news is that Jesus is at work in our world. Revelation has to do with real life. Earth matters. It is here where things really happen. History is the arena in which Jesus is at work–that includes my own little world. 4) WHY I LOVE JESUS: IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE
According to Jesus, I need ears so I can hear! Why? Because He still stands in the center of His church speaking–not to everyone in general, but to me personally. That’s why I love Him. He is never quiet. He has something to say about everything going on in my life and my world and my church. I want to be sensitive to His voice. Welcome His counsel. Accept His evaluation. Heed His warnings. Respond to His reproofs. Rejoice in His grace and promises. How better can I worship than to hear and heed and hope.
5) WHY I LOVE JESUS: WHEN THERE AREN’T ENOUGH ROCKS TO THROW
Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen. Nobody knows but Jesus. That’s why I love Jesus. I love Jesus because He knows what I am going through right now. He knows where I live. How I am being treated. The trials I am facing. How I feel. My questions and confusion. How I want to lash out. Run. Compromise. Give up altogether. Not only does Jesus know and care, He has everything I need to be at peace and remain faithful. He invests my suffering in a hope-filled future. Discover the good news that Jesus hears me when I cry out from the depths of my sorrows.
6) WHY I LOVE JESUS: NIKE EVERYDAY–JUST DO IT?
The good news is that even the feeblest can prove to be victorious. Revelation is a story of conflict and victory in the ongoing life of the church–our ongoing life. Those everyday struggles, temptations, trials and opposition that define who we really are (character) and what we do. Those pivotal spiritual and moral battles that will not only determine eternity but what kind of person we are in the world. Overcoming is one of Revelation’s key themes. Incredible blessings are promised to those who overcome. Does overcoming demand something we don’t have in ourselves? I love Jesus because he is the answer.
7) WHY I LOVE JESUS: AN EYE FOR THE ROAD
Eyes. Horns. Lampstands billowing fire. Words. Visions. The testimony of Jesus Christ. A final invitation–“Come!” Discover the good news of Revelation’s seven-fold Spirit who makes the Lamb’s victory effective in our life. I love Jesus because He sends His Spirit–to me! Filling my imagination with life-orienting truths and giving me power to live.
8) WHY I LOVE JESUS: MY REFLECTION IN HIS EYES
I love Jesus because His vision for my life is bigger than I could ever imagine. He opens my life to a horizon of meaning and purpose that I can both experience now and enjoy for all eternity. I know it is true. How? Because my reflection is in His eyes. Someday, I’ll see it for myself, face to face. This series concludes with the good news of Revelation’s final hope and invitation.
