Dr. Benjamin S. Ben Carson Sr. M.D. (born 18 September 1951) is a retired American neurosurgeon and former Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008.
