COME LET US REASON TOGETHER

David C. Asscherick

OVERVIEW

This series of six messages was presented to a large and very attentive group of youth and young adults at the Michigan Camp Meeting. As the young people sat in rapt attention it was proven, yet again, that what Christian young people really want is not entertainment, pop music or "sanctified" drama, but the "Bread of Life," the Bible.

Arriving at truth involves more than just having the right answers; it also involves asking the right questions. Good answers, without good questions have no real "holding" power for the Christian or the seeker.

SERIES INFO

1. PASCAL’S WAGER
What rational justifcation can be given for accepting the Christian message? Actually, there are many! This message gives perhaps the most persuasive and compelling reason. This is a message that EVERY person NEEDS to hear.

2. THE UNIQUENESS OF JESUS CHRIST IN HISTORY
Christianity rises or falls on the person of Jesus Christ. We assume the uniqueness of Jesus Christ to be a settled matter, but is it? For Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and others, it is not. What, then does set Jesus apart as unique? We examine the testimony of five witnesses in answering this essential question.

3-5. HOW TO SHOW WHAT YOU KNOW * Parts I, II, III
Logical arguments don’t usually produce saving faith. This doesn’t mean that logic and reason have no role to play in the sphere of our religious experience. The key lies in discovering what is the proper role for logical arguments and proofs. The proofs enable us to “show” what we, through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, already “know.” Put your thinking cap on!

6. WHY I BELIEVE THE BIBLE IS THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD
Christianity also rises or falls on the accuracy of the claims of the Bible. We often take the Bible for granted. This can be particularly true for those who were raised as Christians. It is therefore, essential that we address the most basic claims of the Bible and see if they can stand the test of veracity and relevancy. Does the Bible pass these tests? Listen and see.
