Often called the “father of the faithful” the Bible frequently describes him as fearful, with catastrophic consequences; yet, God continued to love and guide him.

2) WHEN MIRACLE WON’T MATTER–LEARN TO LISTEN TO THE LORD
His mountaintop experience descended into a valley of despair. Yet, even when he fled from his duty. God still kindly communicated with His servant.

3) FROM SUBHUMAN TO SUPERHUMAN–GOD’S LOVE PERSISTS, YET ALSO PERMITS
He prayed for something else when God had already made His will clear to him. God lovingly tried to redirect him, but still allowed him to go his own way.

4) LEVITATING BETWEEN LUST AND LOVE: A HAIR RAISING HOLY WAR FOR THE HEART
Little by little he began to violate his vows, until he finally was blinded by lustful living. But God still cared; and, when he repented, God responded.

5) WHEN BLESSINGS BRING ABOUT BRAGGING, BEWARE OF PRAYER
Instead of gratitude for God’s grace, he boasted of his belongings. Though he squandered a chance to glorify God, his repentance brought more blessings.

6) CONNED BY SELF-CONFIDENCE; BUT RESTORED BY THE REDEEMER
Not only did he disbelieve his Lord, but he displayed personal pride. His apostasy was followed by repentance. Then he was lovingly called to leadership.
