1. Roots: What It Really Means To Be a Seventh-Day Adventist.

SDAs claim to be the only body within Christendom today to find their prophetic roots in Revelation, Chapter 10, their prophetic messenger in Revelation Chapter 12 and their prophetic message in Revelation Chapter 14. Why is this significant? And, even if true, does it really matter?

2. The Biblical Basis of the Prophetic Gift.

SDAs claim to have a manifestation of the ancient Holy Spirit-bestowed gift of prophetic utterance within their midst today. They also accept the Reformation credo, “The Bible and the Bible only” Can these two claims be harmonized? Through which three separate lines of Biblical investigation do SDAs claim to find their prophet, Ellen G. White, in the Scriptures?

3. Inspiration and Revelation: What It Is and How It Works.

Just what constitutes a person a “prophet of god–receiving a divine dream? Can anyone who desires this role simply claim this spiritual gift as a right? What are a prophet’s two principle tasks? Just how, in practical terms, did this prophetic gift operate in Bible Times? Today?

4. Inerrancy, Infallibility, and the “More Sure” Word of the Prophet.

May a true prophet of God ever make a mistake? Must all of his/her predictions always come to pass 100% of the time? Does a true prophet of God ever have to go back and change anything? Does Mrs. White’s 1892 statement have any bearing upon this subject: “Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view, never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed…Long cherished opinions must not be regarded as infallible” (RH, July 26, 1892)?

5. The Proper Relationship Between the Writings of Ellen G. White and Sacred Scripture.

Do SDAs view Ellen White’s writings as an extension of ‘or an addition to ‘the sacred canon of Scripture? Is it possible to place her writings upon too high a plane–or too low? How did she herself view the appropriate function and proper relationship of her writings to the Word of God? What did she intend to teach (and, equally important, not to teach) by her analogy of the “Greater Light” and the “Lesser Light”

6. Eyewitness!

Peter was accused of peddling “cunningly devised fables.” He protested that he and the apostles were, rather, giving “eyewitness” accounts of events in the early church. Dr. Coon here retells an “eyewitness” experience personally shared with him by Herold Blunden whose remarkable encounter with Ellen White in Australia in the 1890s convinced him she was an authentic prophet of the Lord.
