1) THE SONG OF MOSES AND THE LAMB
Exodus and Revelation are human books in that their story is repeated in every soul that seeks deliverance from the enmeshing and innervating influence of this world. They unfold the painful reality of our human predicament. Themes of bondage and oppression dominate as well as the ever-growing need for deliverance. In the midst of it all, God hears our cry.
2) ONE WHO IS AND WHO WAS AND WHO IS TO COME
Exodus and Revelation unfold how the gods that both attract and oppress us are nothing in comparison to the great I AM. God is above the gods, all of them. Liberation is completely at the initiative of God. The plagues of God give an indication of His purposive activity. He gives evidence of His presence and redemptive purposes.
3) THE PASSION OF THE LAMB
Exodus and Revelation unfold the awesome way in which God liberates us from Bondage–i.e., the blood of the slain Passover Lamb. Learn how this story is relevant to you. How you can experience the passion of Jesus. How to be free from the burden of sin now and to prepare for the “final exodus.” Would you be so free?
4) FROM MASTER TO MASTER
Exodus and Revelation are about changing masters. About God’s saving initiative and our response. Salvation is a changing of masters. At issue is the question of our legitimate ruler. Not service versus freedom, but service to a usurping tyrant versus service to the ligitimate Master. Service to God is in itself a form of freedom. Grace comes in the form of law–God’s directives for a new and better life under a new Master.
5) GOING BETWEEN…
Exodus and Revelation are about God commissioning people. God redeemed you for a purpose–to be a bridge (priest) between Himself and a lost world. OR God is at work in the world, and He wants you to join Him. Exodus and Revelation are books about world mission. About God’s saving initiative through those whom He redeems. So, overflow with the grace and truth you have freely received. Pass it on in compassionate service.
6) TANGIBLES TELL TALES
Exodus and Revelation are a call to consecration and loyal worship. Sabbath keeping is a fundamental sign of our link with God who both creates and redeems. These books tell how with both the first and final exodus (out of Egypt and out of last-day Babylon) the Sabbath marks our unique relationship with God. It is a fundamental link with God who both creates and redeems.
7) WILDERNESS WANDER OR WONDER?
Exodus and Revelation are about choice and perseverance as we move from slavery into wilderness. Wilderness is both a place of safety after the Exodus and the place of the beginning of salvation. It is also a place of trouble and threat of apostasy. Wilderness can be a harsh place of great danger and extreme difficulty. Wilderness can also be an incredible place of inspiring beauty and welcome protection. Today, Exodus & Apocalypse unfolds how in our wilderness journey (From Egypt To Canaan) there can be either perseverance or apostasy, spiritual growth or death, grumbling against God and His leaders or thankfulness and support, hardening our hearts or faithful obedience. Experiencing grace or resisting it. Which is it for you?
8) HOSTING THE HOLY, FACE-TO-FACE
Exodus and Revelation tell how grace is the awesome presence of the Holy God. We can live fully and happily only if that presence is properly acknowledged, and all of life is oriented to it. God redeems us to bring us into His presence. That is what the sanctuary is all about. In the end, we will see Him face to face.
9) EXODUS & APOCALYPSE
Exodus and Revelation highlight the reality of judgment and how human beings are held accountable for their character, choices, and conduct. God redeems with great judgments.
