A medical doctor and professor, who held doctoral degrees from both Harvard and Stanford universities, later founded the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University. Born in 1914 in Calcutta, India, Hardinge was a pioneer in vegetarian nutrition who faced opposition during his research at a time when a vegetarian diet was rare. Known as a great teacher, something he did for 48 years after which he served as the Seventh-day Adventist Health Ministries director until 1985. He passed to his rest September 24, 2010, a few short years after his brother, Leslie Hardinge.
